MY CLASSROOM AND SCHOOL
BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

Picture
Classroom management is very important to insure every child is learning to his/her fullest potential.  Disruptions and misbehavior of one person hinders other students’ opportunity to learn.  Therefore, I use the Card System generally used here at Vaughan.  A student will “pull a card” when a rule is broken.  Some of the rules that will result in pulling a card are:  talking/disrupting the teaching process; no homework; sleeping; not paying attention; rude behavior; misbehavior in hallway, bathroom, playground, or lunchroom; hurtful teasing of others; taking items that do not belong to student, etc.  This is the 5th grade and students should be aware of behavior expectations at Vaughan.  The consequences are as follows:
1 card – Warning
2 cards – Silent Lunch
3 cards – Writing Assignment in Thinking Center & Phone Call home
4 cards – Writing Assignment & Conference with parents
5 cards – Principal’s Office
.
In order to allow EVERY student to have the opportunity for an education, misbehavior in the classroom will NOT be allowed.  According to the School rules, the 3rd infraction will result in afterschool detention.  A student not doing homework is considered an infraction!

Also, there are certain behaviors that will immediately be referred to the principal, bypassing the card system.  Please refer to the School Planner your child has a copy of for those infractions.

Please check THE ESSENTIAL 55 WEBPAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS.
